Introduction

Mecasil technology brings together fly ash processing and fine particle engineering to deliver products which can both transform the concrete industry and build a more sustainable future.

Mecasil technology has the potential to unlock the value in the vast resource of fly ash, past and future which has been produced as a waste by-product from black coal-fired power stations. It can transform this material into a significant and active component of high performance concrete  while reducing the reliance on cement and consequently the emission of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.

The Mecasil processing technology is proven and the process has been shown to deliver a consistent and active product with the potential for substantially increased pozzolanic activity compared with traditional fly ash based materials.

In addition, fine particle engineering of Mecasil products can deliver optimised binder particle size distributions for specific material combinations to further improve concrete handling and performance characteristics. Such optimisation can have a major impact on concrete rheology for improved placement and finishing and on quality and durability through minimisation of the water and air filled voids left in a compacted and cured concrete.

Mecasil technology has the potential to achieve significant improvement in concrete performance while reducing cement and traditional admixtures and additives.
